Anxiety Counseling

Anxiety & Stress Therapy

Anxiety and stress counseling provides a safe space and tools to cultivate self-compassion, mindfulness and balance in your personal and professional life.

We live in a fast paced world filled with non-stop pressure and deadlines that can easily lead to feelings of anxiety and stress. Anxiety often appears as tension, constant worry or fear.  Whether it manifests as tension or fear about the future, many of us find ourselves struggling to unwind and make decisions amidst of multiple demands. You may have hard time relaxing, slowing down or making a decision.

Overthinking becomes the norm, and you may seek solace in food or a few extra drinks, hoping to find some semblance of peace. While a touch of anxiety can sometimes serve as a motivator, chronic stress takes its toll, leaving us feeling edgy, tense, and mentally and physically out of balance.

The culprit behind this turmoil is cortisol, the stress hormone, which skyrockets under prolonged stress, paving the way for emotional strain and various health issues.

SIGNS OF ANXIETY AND STRESS

  • Overthinking, worry, over-analyzing
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Trying to make things “perfect”
  • Hard time dealing with change
  • Feeling resentful, underappreciated and tired
  • Self-criticism or negative self-talk
  • Fear of failure or rejection
  • Catastrophizing
  • An over-scheduled busy life with demands

Feeling frustrated, resentful or stressed

When we are under stress, we tend to respond with “fight, flight or freeze” response. Some people continue to fight it by staying in constant motion, doing more, and putting more stress on their body. Others may have hard time making decisions, avoiding situations or postponing.

Having high expectations or perfectionism may also hold you back from trying new things. In a way, you sabotage yourself before even starting. Fear of failure is so common.

Anxiety counseling can provide relief, new coping skills, and a safe space to explore your stress and worry.

We work collaboratively to help you identify anxiety producing thoughts, utilize CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion.  It is important to find a counselor that would be a good fit and help you stay motivated and on track.
