Kris Kirilova Counselor

Kris Kirilova, LCPC

As a professional counselor, I work with clients in individual counseling, career counseling, adjusting to change, and improving personal or professional relationships. I find that work and love are fundamental parts of life, and I see my work as supporting clients to find fulfillment in their personal life and career.  As a therapist, people seek my help to manage anxiety, cope with stress,  perfectionism, and relationship difficulties.

Within career counseling, clients typically face career transitions, new positions, workplace dissatisfaction, or need help finding their passions and direction.

Counseling Approach

I offer a warm and collaborative atmosphere to help you explore options, reconnect with your inner compass, and work toward your goals.  I realize your personal and professional life often impact each other, and with some guidance, you can find courage and direction in times of transition. My style is integrative with a focus on cognitive behavioral approaches, narrative career counseling, and solution-focused therapy.

Education and Training:

  • Master’s Degree (MA) in Clinical Psychology, Roosevelt University
  • Northwestern University, Supervised Counseling Internship, Career Development & Planning
  • Bachelor’s degree of Art, DePaul University
  • Illinois Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

Diversity:

I welcome your diversity. A diversity which includes differences in sex, age, race, ethnicity, and national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, documentation status, financial means, etc.

Professional Memberships: Illinois Counseling Association, National Career Development Association

Career Change Experience:

As a career changer, myself, I understand what is like to feel unhappy and dissatisfied. Unlike most career coaches, I have a counseling background, which means you can explore deeper issues that might hold you back.  In my earlier work,  I worked with students at Northwestern University and helped them with personal, academic issues and career choices.

My first career was in Corporate America and information systems. I still appreciate technology and innovation but the role of an advisor and counselor has been so natural and fulfilling.

Culturally Sensitive Lens in Counseling:

My cultural background and abroad experience have given me an insight of the unique challenges of bi-cultural individuals. These include expats & international students living in between two countries, and adjusting to a new culture.

I love what I do, and look forward to partnering with you!

I enjoy being with my clients on their journey to self-development, overcoming challenges, and finding the resources to grow and actualize their full potential.
